More About The Play

Hair: A Musical Short is about a woman's journey trying to find her way back to herself through her blackhair. This film is a love letter to anyone who has a complicated relationship with their hair. To find one's natural beauty within themselves and to acknowledge their younger selves who might not have felt accepted because they were trying to fit in.

In association with TIFT, I am excited to announce that Jesus Christ Superstar, through the lens of Black Panther Party Chairman Fred Hampton will be presented in Barrie, ON

GETHSEMANE: BLACK JESUS

WINNER - INTERNATIONAL BLACK AND DIVERSITY FILM FESTIVAL - 2024 copy.png

Fred Hampton was the chairman of the Black Panther Party in Chicago. Similar to the accounts of Jesus Christ, his efforts in helping his community and leading by example was seen as a threat to the authorities which led to his fatal death. Gethsemane: Black Jesus is a re-telling of the song from the iconic musical Jesus Christ Superstar through the lens of Chairman Hampton.

"This version of Gethsemane is certainly powerful"                                  -Tim Rice
